Pink Eye

Pink eye is another name for conjunctivitis which is an inflammation or infection of the transparent membrane (conjunctiva) that lines your eyelid and covers the white part of your eyeball. This gives your eye the red or pink color that’s commonly associated with conjunctivitis. Pink Eye may be caused by a virus, bacteria, allergies or chemicals. Bacterial or viral conjunctivitis is very contagious, it’s important to pay attention to your symptoms. The condition can be passed along to others up to two weeks after it develops. Depending on the cause of the pink eye, the condition may clear on its own or your doctor may prescribe antibiotics, or an antihistamine.
